Your account
One account holds all your characters. You log in with your email address and password, on this website and in the game. Keep the password to yourself: nobody from the team will ever ask you for it.
Moving around
The world is a grid. Everything stands on a tile, and you move one tile at a time: walls, water and other creatures block the way, stairs and ladders take you up and down. Learning the shape of an area is half the game.
Getting better
You get stronger in two ways. Defeating creatures earns experience, and enough experience raises your level, which gives you more health and more room to carry things. Skills grow by using them: fight with a sword and your sword skill goes up, block hits with a shield and your shielding improves, cast spells and your magic level rises. Nobody hands you a skill. You train it.
Spells and runes
Spells are cast by speaking their words, and they cost mana. Some heal, some hurt, some help you get around. Runes hold a spell for later: make one when it's quiet, use it when it isn't.
Loot
Creatures you defeat leave things behind. Some of it you'll use, some you'll sell, and some you'll trade with other players. Check what you're carrying before you set off: a full backpack means leaving things on the ground.
Other players
You'll meet other people everywhere. Group up to take on what you can't beat alone, or join a guild to find a regular crew. Players can also fight each other. Protection zones are safe, the rest of the world is not, so read the rules and the server info to know where you stand.
